Moisturizer
Chances are that you are not moisturized enough. Choose a moisturizer that fits the need of your skin. Is your skin dry? Use a heavier face lotion. Oily? use a oil control face moisturizer. If its normal...well you can use just about anything. Another reason why your face/foundation may look dry is putting on way too much powder. Did you know you only need 1-2 light swirls of powder? and that you don't need to place powder everywhere? We normally concentrate more of the powder on our t-zone, and then spread it lightly everywhere else.

These are just tips, and are to be used with caution. ~Hawaii Makeup Artist Face Art Beauty

Mascara Replacement
The only thing to do in this situation is to ask yourself.....how long did I have this mascara? and how often do I use it? If your mascara has been more than 8 weeks old, you probably need to get a new one. The life span of mascara is actually 4-6 weeks, thats if you use it everyday. So when your product starts clumping and you notice that is doesn't work as well, just go out and get a new one. Mascara's run from $8-$28 for most.

"Red eye, Red eye...just go away"

The eyes tell it all....whether you eyes are tired, red, and just had it. Try a white khol eyeliner in your waterline. The waterline is located right above the lashes (bottom), you know you got it right if you draw on it, it will either tickle, or have a feeling of wetness. The white eyepencil will reduce the appearance of redness. It's like putting extra eyedrops in.

Did you know that there is a difference between lip balm and lip conditioner?

Whats the difference?

-Lip Balm (i.e. Chapstick, and Carmex): acts like a barrier on top of your lip to prevent moisture from escaping. Like a lid on a tupperware that keeps the freshness in.

-Lip Conditioner (i.e. Fresh Lip Conditioner, and Mac Lip Conditioner): hydrates the lips at a celluar level. Like lip balm but actually hydrates and "conditions."

Our all time favorite lip conditioner at the moment is Fresh Lip Conditioner :)

"Do you know how to use Shampoo & Conditioner" correctly?"

How to use your Hair Care correctly:

Shampoo: Use shampoo mainly on the scalp (top of head), and lather directly in that area. Doing so will cleanse all the oils/environmental debris that was collected throughout the day.

Conditioner: Use conditioner mainly on the bottom section of your hair. This will help hydrate the dry ends.

Sounds pretty easy. But many people, use these products all over their hair. They may not realize that shampoo might cause dryness on the ends of your hair, causing you to get split ends quicker. As conditioner will weight down your hair on your scalp, causing it too look flat/oily.

The time and time tale of if you should wear eyeliner, or shouldn't wear eyeliner, because it makes your eye look smaller?

We look at it like this.
Hawaii Makeup Artist: Makeup Tips
no liner (left) . liner (right)
The two circles are identical...you may say the lined one looks smaller. But step back 10 feet, and which one do you notice more? Just a thought :)

"Light Face, Tanned Body?!!!?"

When choosing a matching foundation here is what to look out for:

1. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone.... (i.e. are you more of a golden tone, or rosey tone)

2. Choose a foundation that matches your skin type....(i.e. are you oily? dry? or combination? If you don't know, as a consultant to help you.

3. You want to look at your neck area as well as your shoulders. Is your face lighter than your body? Choose a foundation that will complement your entire look. How do we know which color? Don't hold a hand mirror to determine your color, you need a wall mirror, and step back 10 feet... does it match now? Keep testing it out until you feel your complete look matches (From head to shoulder).

"I ran out of my makeup remover/cleanser, and the store is closed"

A lot of times you can find whats good for your face, right behind the kitchen cabinet.

1. Makeup remover is not the same as a facial cleanser. Makeup remover will remove your makeup only, and facial cleanser will remove the daily buildup you might of collected throughout the day (environment smog, sweat, dirt, etc)

2. If you ran out of your makeup remover, try olive oil...That's right. good old olive old will gently remove your makeup, and it does a quick job too. All you need is just a LITTLE bit on a cotton pad. Wash with facial cleanser after.

This is not for everybody, please use this advice with caution and advise with your dermatologist for more information

"I have a hard time putting on my false lashes"

Simple trick:

1.Cut your lashes in two sections, your start by cutting in the very middle of the false lashes.

2.Place glue on the base of the lashes, and let it dry for 30 sec.

3.The shortest side of the lashes goes in the inner corner of your eye (the side closes to your nose)

4.Now over lap the 2nd section, so that it fits your eyes perfectly. The middle section of your lashes should look fuller than the rest. This will make the eyes appear round (which is a good thing)
